Introduction
People in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit, international organization founded in the Czech Republic in 1992. PIN arrived in Nepal as part of a humanitarian response to the April 25, 2015 earthquake. Since its inception in Nepal, PIN has had a strong role advocating and addressing the needs of marginalized populations. This includes people who live in geographically remote areas of Nepal, people who are from historically marginalized ethnic groups, and those marginalized because of their age and/or gender identity (women and girls). PIN has also supported Nepal's post-earthquake reconstruction efforts ensuring that the most vulnerable people are not left behind with resilience (focused on shelter and resettlement) and inclusive education programming. PIN-Nepal is strongly committed for safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, including persons with disabilities, in line with its safeguarding framework and child protection policy.
Pratibaddha III is 2 years project (2024 – 2026) which builds on the successes of EU-funded projects "Pratibaddha 1: Risk-Informed Landslide Management in Nepal’s Hill Areas" and "Pratibaddha 2: Together for Disaster Preparedness and Early Action in Landslide Affected Hill Areas of Nepal". It focuses on Nepal's Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudhurpaschim provinces, targeting areas recently impacted by earthquakes (EQ), predicted EQ impacts, and susceptible to landslide risks. The proposed action aims to strengthen at-risk communities', local and provincial governments' leadership and joint risk ownership in disaster mitigation, preparedness, and early action using a whole-of-society approach. Incorporating Gender Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and environmental considerations aligned with NEAT+, the action adopts a system strengthening approach aiming to build capacities of provincial governments (PG) and local governments (LG) to lead on developing a landslide disaster preparedness (DP) and early action (EA) framework, increasing the scope for its replication in non-targeted LGs in the case of future disasters. The action consists of three results: Result 1 (R1) reduces hazard exposure, Result 2 (R2) enhances multi-hazard EA for at-risk communities, LGs, and PGs, Result 3 and Result 3 acts as a crisis modifier (CM). With a total target of 183,169 beneficiaries, the People in Need (PIN)-led consortium, comprising Community Self Reliance Centre (CSRC), Scott Wilson Nepal (SWN) and Save the Children (SC), will implement the action in DRR and early action.
Scope of Work
The Information Management Technical Officer, under the supervision of the Programme Manager, will be seconded to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority( NDRRMA) to provide technical support for the development and management of information systems related to geohazard assessment, recovery, and reconstruction. This role involves coordinating with NDRRMA, local authorities, and system development agencies to update and share municipal geohazard data with the Geohazard Technical Working Group. The Officer will also lead the creation of information products such as reports, maps, infographics, and national-level outputs like situation reports and bulletins, ensuring their effective dissemination. Additionally, the role includes maintaining and updating relevant content on websites, facilitating strong communication and information-sharing mechanisms among stakeholders, and delivering capacity-building support to NHSRP, government agencies, and partners for effective data access and analysis.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Coordinate with NDRRMA and provide technical assistance for the design, development, pilot, use, and maintenance of information management systems for geohazard assessment, recovery, and reconstruction.
Coordinate with PIN System developers and NDRRMA to codesign a user centric platform for capturing geohazard assessment procedure and also visualise the landslide risks
Facilitate prompt coordination with the NDRRMA, local authorities, and the system development agency to update municipal geohazard assessment data within the system, and consistently share updates with the Geohazard Technical Working Group.
Prepare national/provincial/district/local level information products, reports, maps, and other outputs. Lead to develop project related infographics. Coordinate with NDRRMA to produce and disseminate national level information products like situation reports, bulletins, IECs etc.
Maintain and update timely various information on the website, such as the contact lists, meeting calendars, meeting minutes, reports, etc.
Provide capacity-building and technical assistance to enable NHSRP, government agencies, and partner organizations to effectively access, utilize, and analyze information and related products.
Ensure building and maintaining strong information sharing, communication, and dissemination mechanisms among POs, Cluster, local authorities, and other humanitarian actors in coordination with NDRRMA.
Requirements
Minimal requirements
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in information management, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited academic institution would be a plus.
Minimum of three years of experience in a similar position or similar field.
Experience working with government preferred.
Experience in the geohazards assessment process, disaster recovery and reconstruction data management, information management, and system development.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of ArcGIS/ QGIS, Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Software development tools.
Advanced knowledge in MS Office especially Advanced Excel and access.
Knowledge in graphic design and infographics
Understanding of accountability towards beneficiary privacy and data protection.
Experience in relationship management with partner organizations and other key players, including government officials at provincial and local levels.
Knowledge in Programming language (Design and Development)
Fluency in English and Nepali languages
Strong critical thinking and ability to self-initiate
Nepali typing skill is a plus

Salaries are according to People in Need Salary Scale. Candidates will be informed about the salaries in the beginning of the recruitment process
