Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level NGO working for women’s human rights and to ensure women empowerment through protection and promotion of human rights and social justice focusing on campaigns against violence against women, and women’s economic, social and cultural rights nationwide. Our working districts with offices are spread over Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum and additional working districts are Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok and Saptari district. The Central Office is located in Lalitpur.

MEAL Coordinator

Duty Station: Central Office, Lalitpur with frequent field visits

The MEAL Coordinator will work under direct supervision from the Executive Director and in close coordination with the Program Coordinator. S/He will work with support from all the District Coordinators, Program Officers, and Program Coordinators. She/He will lead and guide support data collection, analysis, and track activity implementation, achievements, learnings, and good practices to help ensure accountability and efficiency from start to end of the project. The Project MEAL Coordinator should have an understanding of unequal gender and power relations and should have the skills to track power shifts through projects and overall organizational interventions.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate organizational MEAL department and provide technical support on developing organizations MEAL framework, tools and overall implementation of MEAL plan.
  • The MEAL coordinator will be responsible to document knowledge and track the progress of the SNEHA project adapting MEAL framework of the project and organization. He/she will be responsible for monitoring and reporting of the sub-grant’s implementation status of SNEHA project. For this, she/he will work in coordination with relevant program coordinator, district coordinators, project staff and subgrantee organizations.
  • Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing regular reports and updates to internal team and donor agency, and making necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among program coordinator, project staff, district offices, and women led organizations to promote collaboration and information sharing.
  • Organize and facilitate regular meetings with sub-grantee women led organizations to review progress, address challenges, and plan upcoming activities, ensuring transparent and proactive project management.
  • Undertake and provide MEAL capacity building, technical support, and training to internal team and women led organizations as per the local context.
  • Oversee the collection and documentation of community experiences, stories, and case studies to showcase project impact and learnings.
  • Monitor target Vs achievement of the planned activities of SNEHA project’s subgrant along with budget Vs expenses (financial monitoring) on a monthly basis in coordination with respective sub-grantee.
  • Work with respective program coordinator to support documentation, record-keeping, reporting and indicator tracking.
  • Validate, analyze, and utilize the data and recommend necessary corrective measures for the improvement of the projects and programs.
  • Develop and review quarterly, mid-term and annual progress MEAL reports. Similarly, support in the validation of data in the narrative reports of the project.
  • Plan field visits on a quarterly basis to capture and record success stories, good practices, achievements, and impacts of programs/projects.
  • Work and Co-work closely with Knowledge Team for documenting and generating knowledge.
  • Attend related internal and external meetings, workshops, and other discussion forums organized by the organization, partner, and donor agencies.
  • Adopt a feminist lens in the process of collecting and analyzing the data and harvesting the achievements and learnings. Develop the learning documents that challenge unequal gender and power relations and encourage the formulation of approaches to bring about transformative change.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Agriculture, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in MEAL with gender lens.
  • Experience working with community-based women led organizations with right based approach
  • Demonstrable expertise in designing and implementing complex multi-stakeholder capacity development initiatives using adult learning and/or feminist pedagogies.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Effective communication, analytical report writing and knowledge generation skills.
  • Internalized feminist values along with a feminist perspective in analyzing issues, along with strong teamwork capacity.
