Job Type: Full-time, for a duration of 18 months (March 2025 to August 2026)

Location: Field Researcher positions are available in the following districts: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Dhanusha, Parsa, and Sarlahi.

Job Summary/Description
The Field Researcher (FR) will be responsible for the overall management of project activities aimed at addressing exposure to violence and psychological distress among the target population and community. Field Researcher will report directly to the Research Specialist and will work under the indirect supervision of the Program Manager. The FR’s role includes screening project participants, managing services, and assessing the impact of these services through various data collection methods. The FR will ensure that all data collection procedures are conducted in strict accordance with project protocols and guidelines, maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of participants throughout the project. The FR will be stationed at one of the designated duty stations/districts and will support PERC team in the following tasks.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Participate in training to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project’s requirements and content, equipping the FR with the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  •  Clearly communicate the objectives and procedures of the project to individuals or users involved or receiving project services.
  •  Conduct assessments using tablet-based data collection, ensuring that assessments are accurate, complete, and reported in a timely manner. Conduct paper-based data assessments in the event of tablet malfunctions. Safeguard the confidentiality of all collected data and information.
  •  Ensure adherence to project protocols, guidelines, and ethical standards.
  •  Follow the guidance of the Research Specialist and maintain regular communication with the Peer Advocate and the PERC central team. Report ongoing progress and the completion of data collection to the central team.
  • Ensure timely data collection, synchronization, and coordination with the PERC central team.
  •  Verify that data is correctly collected on the tablet, and if paper forms are used, promptly enter recorded data into the electronic system.
  •  Ensure that all forms and formats, including assessments (screening forms, baseline forms, and exit client interview forms after the end of 5 sessions), are well-documented, securely maintained, and submitted to the PERC central office on time.
  •  Regularly check the tablet’s functionality and promptly report any technical issues to the PERC central team.
  •  Coordinate with the supervisor and PERC central team to resolve data errors as soon as possible.
  •  Provide regular reports to the supervisor on activity progress, challenges, and client feedback.

Communication and Coordination

  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor and PERC central team about project progress and prepare monthly progress reports.
  • Coordinate with the district coordinators for monthly meetings and report the outcomes of these meetings to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and mental health professionals (such as psychiatrists and psychologists) to enhance the referral system as needed in coordination with PERC central team.

Administrative Responsibilities

  •  Ensure that all logistical and operational needs are met, including the management and maintenance of office supplies and equipment.
  • Organize and manage resources required for sessions and other activities in coordination with Peer Advocates and supervisor.
  • Accurately document all interactions, and follow-up visits, ensuring that records are securely maintained.
  • Assist in the disbursement of incentives to participants attending sessions, ensuring accurate recording, secure storage, and delivery of records to the PERC central team as needed.
  •  Support the setup and maintenance of the project site office, ensuring a functional and welcoming environment for participants.
  • Work closely with Peer Advocates to manage financial documentation when required.
  •  Manage office supply inventory and request additional supplies from the PERC Finance/Admin Officer as necessary.
  •  Provide incentives to focal persons during meetings and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain and promptly return the Participant Payment Sheet and Consent Forms to the central office following data collection.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure that peer advocates record their attendance on the attendance sheet.
  • If necessary, the FR may be relocated to a different project site or district to support project activities, beyond the location where they were initially hired to perform their duties.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct and indirect supervisors.

Essential skills (Qualification and Experiences)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with two years of experience as a field enumerator or in the public health research sector.
  • Master’s degree in Public Health with one year of experience in the public health research sector.
  •  Experience in research methods, including data collection; data analysis and report writing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Nepali.
  •  Commitment to work for the full 18-month project duration.

Additional Skills

  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective team player, flexible to work according to the needs of the project.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Fluency in local languages (such as Bhojpuri or Maithili) will be an advantage.
  • Motivation to work with the LGBTIQA+ community.
