The Centre for Mental Health and Counselling–Nepal (CMC-Nepal), a national-level NGO dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial well-being. We are pleased announce an opportunity to join our team as a Project Coordinator for the Karnali Earthquake Recovery Project-MHPSS. Funded and supported by CBM Global, the project aims to enhance the well-being and resilience of communities affected by the 2023 Jajarkot earthquake. It is being implemented in Barekot Rural Municipality and Nalgad Municipality of Jajarkot District, as well as Sanibheri of Rukum West District in Karnali Province.

Position Overview:

The primary objective of this role is to strategize, execute, oversee, monitor, and report on project activities ensuring coordination with local government and key stakeholders for successful implementation. They will provide technical expertise and project management support to the team, facilitate staff mobilization, and report on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) responses for CMC-Nepal. The role involves close collaboration with consortium partners, local stakeholders, and other CMC-Nepal teams to strengthen the project team's capacity, particularly in post-humanitarian crisis recovery, ensuring the project's effectiveness in the Karnali Province.

Duties and responsibilities for the position: 

  • The Project Coordinator will collaborate with the project team to develop plans aligned with the project document, ensuring activities are implemented on time and within set objectives. 

  • The Project Coordinator will maintain communication with local government officials, including the CAO and Health Section Chief, and collaborate closely with consortium partners from the Karnali Earthquake Recovery Project of CBM Global. 

  • Support the team to address challenges related to project implementation that included but not limited to planning, implementation, data/information recording and reporting in close coordination with the Program Coordinator. 

  • Mobilize and manage project staff efficiently in coordination with Program Coordinator ensuring a cohesive and motivated project team.

  • Work closely with staff and volunteers of other project of CMC-Nepal in the project area and districts. 

Qualification and experience requirements: 

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health/Social Work/Sociology/Development.

  • Psychology/Psychiatric Nursing with five years of progressive and relevant experience in humanitarian responses and project implementation in development projects. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in multi-sectorial approach and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
