Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Customs Expediter. This position is open to all interested applicants.

Duties
The incumbent is responsible for customs and immigration assistance for U.S. Government personnel and other official travelers. The incumbent expedites the customs clearance and host government approvals of importation and exportation of household and personal effects (HHE), privately owned vehicles (POV), unaccompanied baggage (UAB), pets, and U.S. Government equipment and supplies for the U.S. Mission. The incumbent needs to draft and prepare a variety of correspondence (memorandums, notes, letters, and reports) related to incoming and outgoing shipments, customs, applications for duty exempt import of HHE, POV, GOV, UAB, pet animals, and USG equipment and supplies.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements: All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and pre-employment medical exam.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Education Requirements: Completion of a secondary school is required.

Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum two years of experience in the field of customs clearance/international shipping/transportation.

Language: Good Working Knowledge Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Good Working Knowledge Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required.

Job Knowledge: Understanding of government diplomatic import/export policies, including tax policies is required. Knowledge of local airport policies with respect to registration, transfer, licensing, and taxes is required.

Skills And Abilities: Valid local driving license for Class “A” and “B” is required. Must have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of five (5) years. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office application suite is required.
