Duty Station: WOREC Central Office, Lalitpur, with extensive travel, including but not limited to Sudurpaschim, Karnali, and Madhesh provinces.

The Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a non-governmental human rights organization dedicated to protecting and promoting human rights. Founded in 1991, WOREC focuses on preventing violence against women, addressing its causes and effects, and advocating for ecological justice through the economic, social, environmental, and cultural well-being of women and other marginalized groups. We envision a society where feminist aspirations are met, everyone is equal, and social justice exists. Our working districts with offices are spread over Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum, and additional working districts are Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, and Saptari. The Central Office is located in Lalitpur.
Position Title: Project Coordinator
The Project Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director/Program Manager and will oversee the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the project designed to enhance the capacity development of women elected representatives and Local Government (LG) entities. Additionally, the Coordinator will lead the “Together for Transformation” sub-theme, which focuses on strengthening networks, building resilience, and creating safety nets to empower grassroots feminist movements. The role involves close collaboration with WOREC’s networks to strengthen connections from the community to the national level. Responsibilities include coordinating, planning, and implementing workshops and training sessions, as well as monitoring, reporting, documentation, and engaging with stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the central office, provincial/district offices, and communities and will take a leading role in coordinating with the admin and finance teams, Province/District Coordinators, Field Program Officers, and other staff, along with partner organizations, to achieve the project’s goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Coordination and Networking:
- Coordinate with relevant ministries and commissions at federal, provincial, and local levels, including but not limited to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), the Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens (MoWCSC), the Provincial Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), and the Provincial Planning Commission.
- Engage and collaborate with networks of Mayors/Deputy Mayors and local-level elected representatives, such as the Municipal Association of Nepal (MUAN) and the National Association of Rural Municipalities of Nepal (NARMIN).
- Ensure effective networking and coordination with other development partners working on gender equality and women’s empowerment, particularly in areas of women’s leadership, gender-responsive, and inclusive governance.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government officials, CSOs, and international networks to promote project objectives.
Project Planning and Implementation:
- Lead and coordinate the implementation of all project activities across specified provinces/districts/palikas, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to timelines.
- Review annual plans and budgets of provincial and local-level governments, identifying opportunities to complement and harmonize project interventions with government plans and the Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) methodology.
- Facilitate sessions on feminism, movement building, transformative leadership, GEDSI policy formulation workshops, and workshops on good governance.
- Lead the “Together for Transformation” sub-theme of the organization, which focuses on strengthening networks, building resilience, and creating safety nets to facilitate strengthening grassroots feminist movements.
- Ensure timely reporting of project activities while adhering to assigned deadlines.
Capacity Building:
- Ensure the effective implementation of capacity-building training, workshops, and dialogues for Women-Led Organizations, elected women representatives, and government officials.
- Coordinate with consultants, trainers, and vendors to ensure quality delivery and smooth operation of the project, achieving the desired outcomes.
- Strengthen collaboration with community-based networks and institutions to address gender-biased discriminatory norms and harmful practices.
- Use pre-test and post-test questionnaires to analyze participants’ knowledge and understanding before and after the training sessions.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing regular reports and updates to stakeholders, and making necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
- Oversee the collection and documentation of community experiences, stories, and case studies to showcase project impact and learnings.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, financial, and organizational requirements, maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency.
Stakeholder Engagement and Representation:
- Act as a liaison officer with the government, partner organizations, and donors to foster strong partnerships and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Represent the organization in relevant forums, networks, and meetings to promote the project, share best practices, and advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Coordinate with community-based organizations, women and girls’ networks, women human rights defenders (W/HRDs), and CSOs to build alliances and lead campaigns promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among project staff, district offices, and stakeholders to promote collaboration and information sharing.
- Organize and facilitate regular meetings to review progress, address challenges, and plan upcoming activities, ensuring transparent and proactive project management.
- Ensure close coordination and communication with the Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme (PLGSP) and provincial focal points for better synergy and complementarity in capacity development efforts for elected representatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in gender and governance issues.
- Demonstrable understanding of the federal context in Nepal.
- Demonstrable experience working with key stakeholders at different levels, both civil society and government agencies.
- Demonstrable expertise in designing and implementing complex multi-stakeholder capacity development initiatives using adult learning and/or feminist pedagogies.
- Experience in project management.
