DURATION: 6 Months
BACKGROUND
USAID Agricultural Inputs is a five-year USAID-funded Feed the Future (FTF) activity in Nepal which commenced in June 2023. The aim of USAID Agricultural Inputs is to increase the availability, accessibility, and use of agricultural inputs and technology to improve Nepal’s agricultural productivity. The Activity is implemented by Winrock International in collaboration with five organizations: Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy, Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED), MarketShare Associates (MSA), Pathway Technology, Fertilizer Association Nepal (FAN), and Vikara Institute.
USAID Agricultural Inputs will enable lead firms, agrovets, input suppliers, local machinery service providers, and Government of Nepal (GON) change agents and farmers to increase productivity, input supply chain efficiency, market system competitiveness, and strengthen the enabling environment in a way that equitably addresses the needs of women, youth, and members of marginalized groups. USAID Agricultural Inputs will benefit 200,000 farmers in the USAID Feed the Future (FTF) zone of influence.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The overall objective of this traineeship is for the trainee to gain knowledge and experience in carrying out administrative tasks and on selected finance functions through active involvement with the Administrative and the Finance Team.
AREA OF LEARNING AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide administrative support to Technical Team during conferences, workshops, trainings etc.
- Support the Operations Team to upload and update the travel files on the shared online OPF site
- Assist in photocopying, printing and scanning documents.
- Support in arranging administrative documents both online and offline, such as Insurance and Bluebook documents.
- Assist in filing finance documents.
- Assist in preparing VAT related documents such as review VAT invoices, post entries of VAT invoices in excel sheet and reconcile VAT with QuickBooks (financial software) report.
- Prepare spreadsheet on vendor taxes and assist in eTDS.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or as initiated by the Trainee.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, administration, or relevant field.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Some work experience in the areas mentioned above will be a plus
DURATION, LOCATION AND REPORTING
The duration of the traineeship will be for six months starting on or about mid-October 2024. The Trainee will report to the Senior Procurement and Logistic Officer and or the Finance Officer. The position will be based in USAID Agricultural Inputs Office in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur.
FACILITIES/UTILITIES, STIPEND AND LOGISTICS:
The trainee selected will be expected to work at USAID Agricultural Inputs Head Office. The Activity will arrange in-country travel to the field, if deemed necessary. Per diem, including lodging and meals and incidentals (M&IE) will be reimbursed for applicable number of travel days as per USAID Agricultural Inputs policies.
The trainee selected to participate in the program will be provided a Fixed monthly stipend of NPR 26,000 (excluding applicable taxes) during the traineeship. Additional benefits included paid leave, scheduled holiday and insurance coverage for medical and accidental incidents for the trainee.
