Vacancy Announcement:
Forum for Rural Welfare and Agricultural Reform for Development (FORWARD Nepal), a National NGO founded in 1997, working in the fields of Food and Nutrition Security, Livestock and Fisheries, Sustainable Livelihoods, Natural Resource Management, and Climate Change Adaptation/DRR, is implementing the “Regional program for scaling up the multisectoral approach for Nutrition Smart Villages in Bangladesh, Nepal, and India” Phase II in Saptari and Rautahat districts of Madhesh Pradesh with the financial and technical support from German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) / Welthungerhilfe (WHH) invites application from interested candidates for the position of Project cum advocacy officer (PAO) for Saptari district. The objective of the project is to contribute to food and nutrition security (SDG 2) amongst women of reproductive age and vulnerable young children and for food-insecure families. Job Description:
Project Implementation and Management:
- Support in designing/planning programs, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the project activities.
- Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities as per the Detailed Implementation Plan at the field level.
- Enhance nutrition, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, and WASH awareness activities among target beneficiaries and project key stakeholders in the project sites/working Palikas.
- Lead the district team and support during the activities implementation
- Conduct training as per the requirement of the project and facilitate organizing field visits and monitoring visits by local government and stakeholders.
- Support the project coordinator in planning and conducting meetings, workshops, and training.
- Provide capacity-building support to the technical officers and Nutrition Promoters on Knowledge management, advocacy, nutrition, and WASH.
- Provide technical support in seeking the Farmer Field School/Linkage of Agriculture, Natural resource management, and WASH with nutrition security.
- Provide support to team during the financial settlement.
- Design and implementation of nutrition/kitchen gardening for fruits and vegetables.
Coordination and communications:
- Maintain good working relationships at Project Palika and work closely with them to demonstrate a model of Nutrition Smart
- Village and advocate for the incorporation of good practices of Nutrition and WASH into local government work plan/policy
- Work closely with the government health workers in the project sites on the Nutrition Education Rehabilitation Programme etc., as necessary.
- Maintain close coordination with the WHH project partnership Advisor and its working partners in the project sites/district and local government and other relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of the project.
- Communicate regularly with PC and technical officer for field-level activities.
- Maintain close coordination for financial reporting of the district
Monitoring and reporting:
- Monitor the work of technical officers (Agriculture, and nutrition officers) and guide them in conducting project activities.
- Collect field data; compile and analyze as per the requirement.
- Contribute to develop the monitoring tools and checklists.
- Support PC in writing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Collect and support PC in writing result-based case stories.
Advocacy and knowledge management:
- Document the evidence and lessons learned of the Phase-1 of NSV project.
- Demonstrate the evidence for the advocacy at the local level
- Write the case studies and success stories of the project
- Create evidence of the tools and approaches applied in the project.
Qualification and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or relevant field, with 3 years of working experience in a relevant field.
- Excellent skills in data management and information management systems of government.
- Experience working with the community as well as with local government.
- Self-motivated and have a good learning attitude.
- Demonstrated ability in the advocacy, nutrition, and WASH approaches in a development sector setting.
- Good communication skills both in English and Nepali languages. Fluency in Maithili and Bhojpuri languages will be a plus point.
- A valid motorbike license holder is preferred.

Salary and Benefits: will be as per the provision made in the prospective project.
