Vacancy Announcement:

Campaign for Community Communication Nepal (CCN) is a Non-Governmental Organization based in Nepalgunj, Banke. Currently, CCN is implementing the USAID Civil Society and Media (CSM) Program, led by The Asia Foundation as the lead implementer. We are seeking qualified and interested Nepali citizens for our project, “Strengthening Marginalized Communities’ Agency to Demand Accountability and Responsiveness for Environmental Justice” in Banke and Bardiya districts. The objective of the project is to empower wildlife-affected areas and marginalized communities to amplify their voices and advocate for their rights through informing, educating, and organizing them.

Program Coordinator (1)

Vacancy No: VACN- 01/081/082

Duty Station: Nepalgunj, Banke with frequent travel to Madhuban Municipality of Bardiya and Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality of Banke.

Duration: 10 Months

Job Summary:

The program Coordinator will oversee overall project management, coordinate with stakeholders and donors, manage activities, and act as the key focal person. The Coordinator will also be responsible for implementing the project to achieve the project goal and finalizing project inception and completion reports.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the plan and implementation of Strengthening Marginalized Communities’ Agency to Demand Accountability and Responsiveness for Environmental Justice project activities and support the team in implementing the program activities to achieve the project goal.
  • Ensure project budget utilization as per plan.
  • Ensure administrative work of the project for its effective functioning and management.
  • Maintain close relations/communication with the concerned donor and organization for strategic and management support for the project.
  • Mobilize/supervise project staff for effective implementation of the project.
  • Coordinate and implement activities as described in the project proposals.
  • Prepare reports and updates, ensuring reporting deadline and quality as per requirement, and submit to TAF.
  • Undertake travel within Banke and Bardiya as required in the pursuit of the above tasks.
  • Ensure effective working relationships with affected community members and authorities from Local Government, the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC), National parks, the Nepal Army, forest user groups, MPs, and all stakeholders in the project districts.
  • Other duties assigned by the CCN Management teams.

Required Competencies and Capabilities:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline(s), preferably media, social science, or development-related field, with at least three years of relevant working experience in I/NGO sectors.
  • Good understanding of project-relevant fields and Team mobilization.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive fieldwork in remote and within marginalized communities.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Nepali is required for recording and reporting for the project, and an understanding of Tharu languages will be an added asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package and excelling in internet research.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to self-initiate.
  • Human-wildlife conflict management-related experience and familiarity with implementing those project activities.

  • Admin & Finance Officer (1)

    Vacancy No: VACN- 02/081/082

    Duty Station: Nepalgunj, Banke with frequent travel

    Duration: 10 Months

    Job Summary:

    The Admin and Finance Officer will be responsible for the overall admin and financial management and implementation of the project on a day-to-day basis, including personnel, subcontracts, training administrative support, and financial management activities.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Maintain complete sets of books of accounts and daily financial records following standards of accounting principles and donor requirements.
    • Keep all the financial requirements updated and support managing program budgets as per the project planning.
    • Make timely payments of withholding taxes, retirement contributions, insurance premiums, and other payables.
    • Perform a supportive role to provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the office.
    • Make a payment of all program expenditures, including salaries and fringe benefits, purchases, pre-payments, travel advances, and program advances in a timely manner.
    • Support PC in preparing budget forecasts, conducting variance analysis, and reporting to the Program Coordinator.
    • Ensure proper compliance with project requirements, Nepal taxation, and value for money of all expenditures before making payments.
    • Provide logistic support for program activities, training, and coordination meetings.
    • Procure office supplies, equipment, stationery, furniture, materials, and other things required for projects.
    • Facilitate internal and External Audits of the Organization.
    • Fulfil any other specific assignments assigned by the supervisor, CCN, and donor.

    Required Competencies and Capabilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree in management with at least 2-3 years work experience in I/NGO sectors.
    • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office package, and excelling internet research.
    • Work experience in USAID-funded projects.
    • Understanding of GON rules and regulations, acts and policies, and good knowledge of nonprofit sector financial management.
    • Good time-management and organizational skills.
    • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.

    Area Mobilizer (AM-2)

    Vacancy No: VACN- 03/081/082

    Duty Station: Madhuban Municipality of Bardiya and Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality of Banke

    Duration: 8 Months

    Job Summary:

    The Area Mobilizer (AM) will be responsible for coordinating with Palika to conduct Palika levels of project Activities with the intensive of the Program Coordinator. The AM will act as the key focal person for the implementation of project activities. The AM will also be responsible for supporting the program Coordinator in implementing the project to achieve the project goal.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Coordinate with local stakeholders and Palika to conduct field-level activities by ensuring a participatory approach.
    • Act as a key person to conduct field-level activities.
    • Coordinate with the community leaders, stakeholders, and local government representatives.
    • Facilitate community meetings, advocacy activities, and awareness-raising activities
    • Assist the Program Coordinator in preparing plans and progress reports of field activities and impacts, identifying challenges and updates as per the project requirements, and submitting them to donors.
    • Fulfill any other assignments assigned by the supervisor.

    Required Competencies and Capabilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree or Intermediate with at least 2-3 years fieldwork experience in I/NGOs CBOs.
    • Field-based coordination skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package.
    • Good Communication skills written and spoken.
    • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
    • Good in time management and ability to work under pressure.
