AMDA Nepal Vacancy for Health Assistant (ART)


Vacancy Announcement: 

Association of Medical Doctors of Asia-Nepal (AMDA-Nepal) was established in 1989 and was officially registered in the government office as an NGO in 1990. It is a humanitarian, nonprofit-making, non-political, non-sectarian, social organization working with its mission to promote the health and well-being of the underprivileged and marginalized people under the slogan “Better quality of life for better future”. AMDA Nepal is providing curative and preventive health services through its hospitals and projects in different parts of Nepal. AMDA Nepal also established academic health programs focusing to produce middle-level health professionals, offering various diploma level programs. This initiative reflects a commitment to evolving healthcare education and preparing skilled professionals for the future.

The anticipated USAID Sustainable HIV Epidemic Control Project will deliver relevant and efficient direct service delivery that is effective in surging, scaling, and sustaining HIV services and systems for long-term epidemic control with focus on filling existing HIV prevention, case finding, and treatment gaps, on building long-term sustainability to attain and maintain epidemic control.

This project will be implementing HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support services primarily among the female sex workers and their clients, male sex workers and their clients, men having sex with men, transgender people and people living with HIV and their partners and children in four districts of Koshi Province, namely Ilam, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari, in close coordination with other partners/sub-partners, National networks of KPs/PLHIV and Community Based Organizations (CBOs).

AMDA-Nepal invites applications for the following positions from qualified Nepalese citizen on/before 18 September 2024 (2081 Ashoj 02) for the anticipated “USAID Sustainable HIV Epidemic Control Project” expected to commence on October 1, 2024 in Koshi province. The anticipated project period is 2 years, to be funded by USAID Nepal.

Health Assistant (ART)

Key Responsibilities

  •  Perform pre-test and post-test counselling for HIV testing of client.
  •  Counsel HIV positive client to start ART
  •  Coordination with ART clinic, medical doctors/clinicians and perform/record client health assessment (WHO staging)
  •  Screen client for: Opportunistic infections, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), TB assessment, baseline laboratory test and medical history assessment
  • Coordinate with doctors/clinicians and Non-government Organization (NGO) representative such as Community and Home Base Care (CHBC) and Community Care Centre (CCC) for various tests: baseline and follow up investigations, Viral load testing, CD4 count and assist clients for lab test. Collect and record lab reports of clients in individual record file
  •  Support for organizing viral load sample collections and coordinate for transport and testing
  •  Support ART clinician for consultation of PLHIV at ART center and ensure proper recording and reporting of ART services.

Duty Station: Koshi province (Itahari, Biratnagar, Birtamod)

Minimum Qualification:

  •  Minimum Diploma Level in General Medicine Level from recognized Institute with valid council registration number and having mminimum 2 years eexperience in PEPFAR supported HIV/AIDS, STI prevention program.

Preferences:

  •  Knowledge of MS word, PowerPoint, excel, email& Internet.
  • Knowledge of local languages will be beneficial.
  •  Local candidate will be given priority.
  • Advantage of two wheelers driving license holder.
  •  Flexibility of working in off-hours (beyond standard office time) as needed
