Hamro Palo is seeking a passionate and experienced Program Officer to lead and manage our Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Mental well-being Project. This role involves planning, executing, and monitoring project activities aimed at improving SRHR and mental well-being outcomes among adolescents in Nepal. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public health, social science, gender studies, or a related field, with a commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering young women and girls.
Station: Kathmandu, with frequent travel to project sites outside the valley.
Duration: 1-year contract
Position: Program Officer
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the successful execution of the SRHR and Mental well-being project, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
Coordinate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, healthcare providers, and other formal and informal groups.
Develop detailed work plans and timelines to ensure efficient and timely project implementation.
Engage with schools, communities, and adolescents to organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and community outreach programs that promote SRHR and mental well-being awareness.
Design and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of project interventions.
Prepare comprehensive project reports, case studies, and success stories for stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and learnings.
Ensure proper documentation of all project activities, training materials, and feedback from participants for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Education, Gender Studies, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, with a focus on SRHR, mental well-being, or gender-based programs.
Strong understanding of SRHR issues, mental well-being challenges, and gender dynamics in the context of Nepal.
Related training and short courses will be an added advantage.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Proficiency in both Nepali and English languages.
Ability to deliver engaging presentations and possess essential IT skills.
Proven skills in problem-solving and negotiation to address challenges and ensure smooth collaboration.
Strong organizational and planning skills to efficiently manage tasks, timelines, and resources.
Exceptional time management skills and the ability to multitask efficiently in a dynamic work environment.
Strong personal commitment to continuous learning and improvement of knowledge and skills.
Flexibility in understanding and integrating gender, diversity, and inclusion perspectives into training and development planning and delivery.
Communication skills, both in English and Nepali language.
Ability to adapt to changes and make quick decisions.
