Gross Salary: NRs,4,62,540/- annum (commensurate upon qualification and experience)

Rural Development and Empowerment Center (RUDEC Nepal) is a non-government organization having its Office in Nuwakot District is formed with the objective of wise utilization of local resources with enhanced capacity of local people which ensure the livelihood improvement opportunities for poor, deprived and destitute community people especially women, children, differently able people living in Nuwakot and its surrounding districts. Since its establishment, RUDEC has been working in Food Security, Education, Rural Infrastructure Development, Climate Change, Energy, Environment, Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Health, Child Rights Human Rights, Peace and Democracy from funding support from different donor agencies for improving socio-economic and health condition of most deprived and disadvantaged people living in Nuwakot and its surrounding districts. It has adopted human right based approach through social mobilization and technical backstopping for strengthening service delivery mechanisms and promoting local technologies to address the poverty issues and also conserve and develop natural resources in order to foster sustainable development.

With technical and financial support of GNI Nepal, RUDEC Nepal is implementing “Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP)” in Nuwakot  District since 2022.  Under ICDP project, RUDEC Nepal is hiring the Agriculture Technician to conduct activities of Income generation theme.

Job Description 

The incumbent will be mainly focused on the following major duties and responsibilities. 

Planning and Implementation 

  • Prepare monthly work plan of POA activity based on local context;

  • Execute the activities mentioned in the plan of action in coordination with the supervisor;

  • Identify the potential Income Generating Activities (IGA) in the community;

  • Identify potential agriculture/ livestock commodities that can be commercialized and developed as a value chain model;

  • Select site and community for the implementation of income generation program activities in close coordination with supervisor;

  • Support to prepare business plans for micro-entrepreneurs;

  • Support supervisor to identify business service packages for the cooperative;

  • Explore and plan for cooperative business at the community level;

Training and Development

  • Conduct agriculture skill training and entrepreneurship development training for potential entrepreneurs;

  • Provide farm-based technical service to farmers and regular business counseling to micro-entrepreneur;

  • Provide technical support for identifying market driven crop and livestock enterprises;

  • Support to update cooperative policies & guidelines;

  • Provide cooperative education, business & financial literacy training to cooperative members;

  • Facilitate workshops and training; 

MEAL

  • Assist in carry-out periodical assessment of project in order to assess the gap in operational practices of project interventions;

  • Conduct field visits to observe, monitor and evaluate the project interventions and utilization status;

  • Prepare report based on project requirement;

  • Review physical and financial progress of project interventions; 

  • Collect relevant information and prepare case story, best practices, lesson learnt.

  • Assist in feasibility of infrastructure activities;

  • Collect and support to analyze and verify the monthly financial report of cooperative 

  • Support supervisor to prepare monthly financial detail reports of partner cooperatives;

  • Keep record of production and sales data of the individual entrepreneur(s) and cooperative business;

  • Support supervisor to carryout market survey for linkage of products from members;

  • Support to conduct public audit; 

Collaboration and Coordination

  • Coordinate with the municipality and ward level stakeholders for the quality implementation of the project activities and building synergy at local level;

  • Facilitate to conduct regular meeting of agriculture/livestock sub group (coop member) and help them to plan appropriately for enhancement of their livelihood;

  • Collaboration with marketing actors to expand market of cooperative; 

  • Encourage community to strengthen cooperatives and make them self-inspired, self-reliant, self-sustained;

Qualification and required skills

  • Minimum technical SLC in Agriculture/Livestock with at least three years of experience, or ISC in Agriculture with at least one year of experience;

  • Experience of improving agriculture productivity and profitability of small farm production;

  • Experience in working with cooperatives and farmer’s groups; 

  • Should have community mobilization and communication skills;

  • Ability to communicate in English, Nepali, and local languages; 

  • Ability to work under strict deadlines;

  • Should have two wheelers driving license;
