KOSHISH, established in 2008, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial well-being in Nepal. Embracing the spirit of "NOTHING ABOUT US WITHOUT US," KOSHISH advocates for the inclusion and meaningful participation of individuals with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities. KOSHISH actively engages in community-based mental health programs, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts. Our overarching goal is to mainstream mental health within the broader health system and societal domains, such as social protection, education, inclusion, and employment.

Job Summary:

The fundraising officer will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the organization's fundraising strategy, including setting targets and action plans, assessing organizational capacity, and creating fundraising materials. They will identify and pursue potential funding opportunities, develop and submit proposals, and engage donors through strategic campaigns. Additionally, the fundraising officer will maintain comprehensive documentation of fundraising data and collaborate on budgeting and reporting.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Organizational development in fundraising

  • Review the fundraising strategy of the organization and ensure inclusive policies and procedures that reflect ethical fundraising practices as necessary.

  • Develop fundraising outputs and targets in relation to the strategic documents along with SMART action plan for execution of the fundraising strategy.

  • Carry out capacity assessment and develop capacity statement of the organization.

  • Develop documents, brochures and materials for fund raising in close coordination with Executive Director, program and communication unit.

  • Carry out fundraising and proposal development focused training to staffs to enhance organizational capacity in fundraising

  • Coordinate with the senior management team to ensure that the organization is well equipped to fulfill all the requirements of the possible partner agencies.

Proposal development and grant management:

  • Explore potential funding agencies across national, regional and international levels across priority areas/ locations for KOSHISH, through review of their strategies and assess their alignment with the vision and mission of KOSHISH.

  • Scanning the CFP/RFP through various sources and working extensively to ensure the quality proposals for the competitive bidding on behalf of the organization.

  • Researching potential partners, developing funding project proposals and submitting them to as many as potential organizations, foundations and philanthropists in the given timeframe.

  • Participate in the planning and coordination of creative, strategic, and meaningful appeals, campaigns, and activities to engage new and existing donors, both online and in-person in close consultation with the communication unit.

Knowledge Management:

  • Oversee the accurate documentation and record keeping of fundraising data including information of all the projects, proposals and documents, categorized based on the themes that the organization is working on both online and offline.

  • Ensure that all strategic documents are comprehensively understood, recorded, effectively reported, and securely stored.

Planning, Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the senior management team in development, review, and consolidation of comprehensive fundraising plans and budgets, including setting annual fundraising targets that align with the organizational strategy to secure grants.

  • Support the finance unit by contributing to the development of project budgets in close coordination with the partners.

  • Prepare quarterly performance report and fundraising annual report highlighting achievement of targets, challenges, learning, collaborations and way forward.

Communication and visibility:

  • Support in developing content and materials for fundraising for the organization in collaboration with the communication unit.

  • Support in production or generation of audio/visual or graphics materials for organization's branding and visibility

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with three years of relevant experience in fundraising, communication partnership development etc.

  • Experience of working with I/NGOs with good experience of drafting proposals and concept notes.

  • Good understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards.

  • Understanding of national/international donors’ requirement and ability to build strong relationship both internally and externally.

  • Ability to work independently, when required.

  • Excellent communication skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in both Nepali and English.

  • Excellent presentation, training/meeting facilitation and report writing skills.

  • Good networking, communication, and public relations skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and engage in multiple priorities.

  • Excellent MS Office (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills with proficient typing skills both in Nepali and English.

  • Knowledge in mental health and disability is an advantage.
