Advocacy Forum-Nepal (AF) Vacancy for Program Officer/ Program Associate


Vacancy Announcement: 

Advocacy Forum-Nepal (AF), a non-profit and non-governmental human rights organization, is looking for dynamic and result-oriented individuals for the following positions based in the Central Office in Kathmandu, Nepal.

A. Program Officer - 1 (Female Only)

Location: Kathmandu, Head Office

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree (preferably in law and human rights) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing a human rights and rule of law project (or bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience). 

  • Proficient knowledge of national and international law related to transitional justice, human rights, women’s rights, and gender justice.

  • Proficient knowledge and analytical skills of the current political context of human rights as well as emerging human rights and rule of law issues at the local, national, and international levels.

  • Adept command of written and spoken English,

  • Proficient computer and technology skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with and attend to victims and their families, ensuring systematic documentation and archiving of human rights violation cases, and conducting necessary intervention.

  • Liaise and coordinate with government authorities, partner organizations, and stakeholders.

  • Plan and implement the project’s activities according to established timelines and goals.

  • Conduct project-related research and contribute to publications.

  • Assist in planning and organizing training sessions, stakeholder meetings, and project-related programs.

  • Collaborate with the project team to develop content and strategy for consultations and stakeholder engagements,

  • Assist in preparing comprehensive reports for donors, government authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator and AF.

B. Program Associate - (1) 

Location: Kathmandu, Head Office

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human rights and the rule of law with prior work experience in the field.

  • Knowledge of national and international laws pertaining to Transitional Justice, torture and ill-treatment, child rights, and juvenile justice.

  • Proficient understanding and analytical skills regarding current human rights and political contexts, including emerging issues at the local, national, and international levels.

  • Experience and a driven interest in research, report writing, and translation (English to Nepali and vice versa).

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Nepali.

  • Ability to work under pressure within diverse groups.

  • Proficiency in Nepali and English typing.

  • Proficient computer skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with and attend to victims and their families, ensuring systematic documentation and archiving of human rights violation cases, and conducting necessary intervention.

  • Provide legal counseling and assistance to detainees and victims of human rights violations.

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and facilitating training sessions, stakeholder meetings, and project-related programs.

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports for donors, government authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Provide research assistance and analytical briefings on national and international policies and provisions on human rights and the rule of law.

  • Support the project team in conducting training and stakeholders meeting, including other office programs.

  • Manage project-related documents and facilitate communication between field offices and the central office.

  • Perform other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator and AF.
