Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) Vacancy for Junior Technical Assistant (JTA)

Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is a national level NGO working for women’s human rights and to ensure women empowerment through protection and promotion of human rights and social justice focusing on campaigns against violence against women, and women’s economic, social and cultural rights nation-wide. Our working districts with offices are spread over Morang, Sunsari, Udayapur, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Dang, Kailali, Rukum and additional working districts are Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Kanchanpur, Jagarkot, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok and Saptari district. The Central Office is located in Lalitpur.
Position title: Junior Technical Assistant (JTA) – 3
Duty Station: Kailali, Dang and Sarlahi (Sarlahi- with frequent visit to Dhanusa and Mahottari)– 3

The Junior Technical Assistant reports directly to the District Coordinator and works in close coordination with the Program and Finance Departments. The objective is to coordinate and expand cooperation with local stakeholders and various agencies working on human rights, women’s rights, and agricultural development. This role is also responsible for organizing, facilitating, and monitoring training, orientation, and campaign programs aimed at addressing gender-based violence, promoting women’s leadership, and enhancing agricultural practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, political parties, women’s groups, youth groups, various networks, and committees.
• Facilitate the registration of farmers’ groups and enhance their access to community resources and relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in mobilizing and managing funds/ locally available resources for the professional development of women affected by violence.
• Coordinate with relevant agencies to conduct various types of agricultural and veterinary training.
• Coordinate and lead training sessions and orientation programs for women and girls to address and prevent gender-based violence.
• Assist local farmers in promoting and preserving indigenous seeds, and set up proper storage systems or seed banks.
• Organize training activities for farmers and engage in the production of indigenous crops, seeds, fruits, and vegetables, focusing on climate-resilient sustainable agriculture.
• Offer on-site technical assistance to farmers in targeted communities and other stakeholder farmers through door-to-door visits.
• Conduct capacity building and leadership development training for women’s groups, youth groups, and farmers.
• Provide technical information and support for building animal sheds and promoting organic pesticides and compost fertilizers.
• Offer initial health check-ups, disease diagnosis, treatment, and general advice for animals and plants.
• Plan and implement campaign-oriented programs in collaboration with local stakeholders to promote human right and social justice and ecological justice.
• Facilitate the formation of new women and youth groups through strategic and impactful campaigns.
• Promote intensive organic farming systems and provide technical support for vegetable cultivation and cash crops.
• Facilitate market promotion of products produced by farmers.
• Assist in the production, marketing, and management of agricultural products by developing suitable business plans for women’s entrepreneurship development.
• Manage and document statistical data for support programs aimed at earning a living.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports of the programs conducted and convey them to District Coordinator.
• Plan and budget programs, get approvals, and ensure timely implementation.
• Take full responsibility for the experimental agriculture firm run by the office.
• Conduct regular monitoring, meetings, and practical discussions with farmers in women farmer groups.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Completed a minimum of 15 months of training in JTA from an institution recognized by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
• At least one or twoyears of experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of gender-based violence, women’s rights, and human rights.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
• Technical knowledge in organic farming, livestock management, and agricultural practices.
• Proficiency in data collection, documentation, and reporting.
