Position Description

Position title: Psychosocial counselor/outreach – 2

Duty Station: Rukum and Dang

The Psychosocial Counselor, who reports to the District Coordinator, offers tailored psychosocial support to trafficking and GBV survivors as per the psychosocial counseling service guidelines. This includes individual counseling, group therapy, and community-based psychosocial support activities to enhance the mental health and well-being of survivors, facilitating their recovery and empowerment. The counselor visits the community level and collect the data of trafficking survivors.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to GBV survivors to help them cope with trauma, develop coping mechanisms, and improve their mental health and well-being.
Facilitate group therapy sessions for GBV survivors to share experiences, build support networks, and foster collective healing.
Coordinate and lead training sessions and orientation programs for survivor of human trafficking and GBV special women and girls.
Develop case referral pathway in coordination with relevant service providers and facilitate survivors in their access to justice.
Support in district program planning, implementation and reporting and develop and implement advocacy plan related to mental health and wellbeing.
Conduct community-based psychosocial support activities to raise awareness about GBV, promote mental health, and build community resilience.
Train and mentor local community members, women leaders, and youth leaders to explore the trafficking cases and create enabling environment for showcase the trafficking case at community and concerned stakeholders.
Maintain detailed case records for each client, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism. Follow up on cases to monitor progress and provide additional support as needed.
Collaborate with other project staff to develop and implement advocacy campaigns focused on reducing trafficking and GBV and promoting mental health awareness.
Regularly monitor the progress of psychosocial interventions and provide detailed reports on activities, outcomes, and challenges to the project coordinator.
Provide support to district coordinator to collect data related to human trafficking and GBV from community level.
Monthly reports on counseling sessions conducted including the number of clients served, types of services provided, and outcomes.
Documentation of group therapy sessions, including attendance, topics discussed, and feedback from participants.
Reports on community-based psychosocial support activities and training sessions.
Case studies and success stories highlighting the impact of psychosocial support on trafficking and GBV survivors.
Data for the project’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system to track progress and impact.

5. Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field of bachelor degree in any other relevant field with certified six months counseling training.
At least 2 years of experience providing psychosocial support or counseling, preferably with GBV survivors.
Strong understanding of gender issues, human trafficking and GBV in the context of Nepal.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse communities and in challenging environments.
Fluency in Nepali and proficiency in native language and English.
