Children as Zones of Peace (CZOP) National Campaign Vacancy for Program Officer
Vacancy Announcement:
Children as Zones of Peace (CZOP) National Campaign is a national coalition of organizations working in the field of child rights that was formed in 2003 as a loose network in order to undertake collective advocacy to coordinate and integrate the efforts for protection and promotion of the rights of the children affected from armed conflict. Currently, it has sixty member organizations representing all seven provinces, where National Human Rights Commission, UNICEF and Nepal Red Cross Society are involved as observer members. CZOP was registered at District Administration Office, affiliated to Social Welfare Council.
Since the beginning, CZOP has been emerged as a continuous movement advocating for children’s basic rights during and after armed-conflict. Institutionalizing its efforts of advocacy, this coalition has been forged to magnify and strengthen declaring Children and Schools as Zones of Peace and urge all the stakeholders including Government and Non-Government Institutions to fulfil their obligations towards children in a strong, united, neutral and effective manner.
CZOP seeks application from interested candidates for the following positions to fulfil given responsibilities
1. Job title: Program Officer
Duty station: Kathmandu
Purpose
The Program Officer is responsible for the smooth running of the child protection; especially child and early forced marriage project under Plan International Nepal partnership and child protection programs. S/He coordinates between the member organizations of the Coalition and similar coalition at provincial, local another like-minded Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Government Agencies and Human Rights related Constitutional bodies to conduct activities and child protection campaigns under the guidance of Program Manager (PM) and Senior Program Officer (Sr. PO).
Main responsibilities
- Be updated and Development of press release in Nepali on major issues related to children.
- Update social media and make it vibrant with major news, issues and event sharing.
- Report development of event and support for report writing to Program Officer.
- Coordinate with CZOP members, Government Agencies and Development partners as guided by Supervisor.
- Logistic support for workshop, training and consultations at the federal and provincial level.
- Event reporting and compilation for the thematic report, monthly reporting, collect supporting documents for admin and finance and program.
- Participate in meetings and brief to supervisors.
- Communication and follow-up to the required stakeholders before and after conduction of event.
- Support in documentation and reporting.
Job Description
Program Officer works under Program Manager of CZOP; the position holder is expected to perform the following tasks:
- Support to conduct Child Rights Protection Program to Program Team to conduct CEFM and other project activities.
- Identify and be updated on the current issues related to children and develop press release in Nepali and share the issues on social media.
- Make activities reports, compile and insert in the prescribed format of the CEFM Project and CZOP.
- Coordinate with CZOP members, Government Agencies and Development partners as guided by Supervisor.
- Logistic support for workshop, training, meetings and consultations at the federal and provincial level of the CEFM project and CZOP.
- Event reporting and compilation for the thematic report, monthly reporting, collect supporting documents for admin and finance and program.
- To liaise between individual members of CZOP, CSOS and other agencies to conduct activities and campaign on child rights protection.
- Support to develop IEC materials, publication, developing Terms of Reference (ToR) as for the program activities guided by PM and project activities operational guide. Dissemination IEC and publication as per need.
- Communicate to Consultant and Resource person as of the project activities guide and deploy by PM and Sr. PO.
- Represent the CZOP as guided by Program Manager and Senior Program Officer by in different forums and present within the CZOP’s guidelines.
- Support for the logistic and administration by supervisor.
- Support to develop project report, annual planning, periodic review and timely reporting of the projects and organizational activities
- Other tasks to support for financial reporting.

Qualification, Required Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Mass Communication and Journalism, Social Sciences or related field.
Experience: At least two years of working experiences in the area of child rights, youth and adolescents’ issue and protection issue, democratic governance, freedom of expression and independence, media mobilization and child/human/women rights, networking and campaigning, Experience of promoting citizen engagement at both national and sub-national level; and proven track record and sound knowledge on different media and child rights related projects.
Language Proficiency: Good spoken and written Nepali and English language
Communication: Excellent inter-personal communication skills and learning attitude
Computer proficiency: Ability to use basic MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point.
Line management
The above-mentioned job holders will report to the Program Manager of CZOP.
