Child Nepal is a non-governmental organization working child rights sector since 2003 AD. It is looking for qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions for “Integrated Initiatives for Climate, Children and Education in Nepal (ICCEN)” project (one year) planned to be implemented in Helambu Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok of Nepal by the organization.  On this backdrop, Child Nepal calls for an application for the following positions:

Position One: Project Coordinator- 1 (Full Time)

Work station: Child Nepal Kathmandu with 75% of field engagement in Sindhupalchok

Job Description:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities in alignment with project objectives and timelines.

  • Coordinate with local government bodies, schools, and community organizations to ensure effective implementation of project initiatives.

  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions for project stakeholders and beneficiaries.

  • Foster strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure community buy-in and participation.

  • Identify and address capacity-building needs of local partners and stakeholders to enhance their ability to contribute to project outcomes.

  • Promote awareness and education on climate change, child welfare, and educational improvement within the community.

  • Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation plan to track project progress and impact.

  • Collect, analyze, and report on project data to assess the effectiveness of interventions and identify areas for improvement.

  • Prepare and submit timely project reports to the Program Manager and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Assist in the preparation and management of the project budget, ensuring prudent use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

  • Monitor project expenditures and ensure they are within the allocated budget.

  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely and efficient acquisition of project materials and resources.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project activities, expenditures, and achievements.

  • Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future project planning and implementation.

Qualification and Skills Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Education, Social Work, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in the fields of climate change, education, or child rights.

  • Strong understanding of the socio-economic and environmental context of rural Nepal, particularly in Sindhupalchok district.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Fluency in Nepali and English. Knowledge of local languages in Helambu Rural Municipality is an advantage.

  • A valid motorbike license holder is preferred.

  • The position requires frequent travel to project sites within Helambu Rural Municipality.

Position Two: Senior Finance Officer- 1 (50%, Part-time)

Work Station: Kathmandu

Job Description:

  • Maintain accurate financial records for the project, including tracking expenditures and managing accounts payable and receivable.

  • Prepare and submit timely financial reports to the Project Coordinator and relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with organizational policies and donor requirements.

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the project budget.

  • Provide regular updates on budget status, highlighting any variances and proposing corrective actions.

  • Support the Project Coordinator in financial planning and forecasting to ensure the project remains within budget.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational, donor, and regulatory financial guidelines and policies.

  • Prepare for and facilitate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Implement audit recommendations and ensure continuous improvement of financial processes.

  • Manage project cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available for project activities.

  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.

  • Oversee the disbursement of funds in accordance with project requirements and financial policies.

  • Provide financial training and support to project staff and partners to enhance their financial management skills.

  • Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures for the project.

  • Foster a culture of financial accountability and transparency within the project team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. 

  • At least 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the development sector 

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and budgeting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in Nepali and English. Knowledge of local languages in Helambu Rural Municipality is an advantage.

Position Three: Social Mobilizers- 2 (Full time)

Work station: Helambu Rural Municipality

Job Description:

  • Conduct community outreach to raise awareness about the project and its objectives.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders.

  • Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and participatory workshops to gather input and feedback.

  • Assist the Project Coordinator in planning and executing project activities at the community level.

  • Mobilize community members to participate in project activities, ensuring inclusivity and active involvement.

  • Coordinate with local schools, government bodies, and organizations to support project initiatives like day meal, school kitchen garden etc.

  • Identify training and capacity-building needs within the community.

  • Organize and conduct training sessions on climate change, child welfare, and educational improvement.

  • Empower community and agriculture group members with the knowledge and skills to sustain project outcomes.

  • Monitor the progress of project activities and provide regular updates to the Project Coordinator.

  • Collect and document data on community participation and project impact.

  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Promote awareness of climate resilience, child rights, and the importance of education through community campaigns and events.

  • Advocate for the needs and interests of children and vulnerable groups within the community.

  • Disseminate information on best practices and project successes to encourage community ownership.

Qualification and Skills Required:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Education, or a related field is preferred.

  • At least 2 years of experience in community mobilization, social work, or grassroots development activities.

  • Strong understanding of the local socio-cultural context in Helambu Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok district.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate community members.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Fluency in Nepali and local languages spoken in Helambu Rural Municipality; knowledge of English is an advantage.

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Two wheeler driving license preferable

Position Four: M&E Officer - 1 (25%, Part-time)

Work station: Child Nepal, Kathmandu with frequent field visits

Job Description:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive M&E framework and plan in collaboration with the Project Coordinator and other project staff.

  • Design and update M&E tools and methodologies to track project progress and impact.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data related to project activities.

  • Conduct field visits to monitor project activities, gather data, and ensure data accuracy and reliability.

  • Utilize data analysis software and techniques to generate insights and recommendations.

  • Prepare detailed M&E reports, including progress reports, impact assessments, and final evaluation reports.

  • Present findings and recommendations to project stakeholders, including management, donors, and community members.

  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to inform future project planning and implementation.

  • Provide training and support to project staff and community members on M&E processes and tools.

  • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the project team.

  • Ensure that all M&E activities comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, and international standards.

  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks to maintain the integrity of data and the effectiveness of M&E processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

  • At least 3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the fields of climate change, education, or child welfare projects.

  • Strong understanding of M&E principles, methodologies, and best practices.

  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, or similar).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.

  • Fluency in Nepali and English. Knowledge of local languages in Helambu Rural Municipality is an advantage.

Position Five: Girls SAMVAD Animators (2, Full time)

Work station: Girls SAMVAD Center, Helambu Rural Municipality

Job Description:

  • Organize and facilitate regular SAMVAD (Dialogue) sessions with girls in the community in SAMVAD Centers.

  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for open discussions on various topics, including climate change, education, gender based violence, early/forced/child marriage/eloping, anti-trafficking, child rights etc.

  • Use participatory techniques to engage adolescent girls and encourage active participation and sharing of experiences.

  • Promote awareness and understanding of girls’ rights, climate resilience, and the importance of education.

  • Support girls in developing leadership skills, self-confidence, and decision-making abilities.

  • Identify and address specific needs and challenges faced by girls in the community.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, schools, and other stakeholders.

  • Advocate for the rights and needs of girls within the community and encourage community support for the SAMVAD sessions.

  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and local organizations to create a supportive environment for girls.

  • Maintain accurate records of SAMVAD sessions, including attendance, topics discussed, and key outcomes.

  • Collect feedback from participants to assess the effectiveness of the sessions and identify areas for improvement.

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on the progress and impact of the SAMVAD sessions to the Project Coordinator.

  • Assist the Project Coordinator in planning and organizing events, workshops, and training sessions related to the project.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the development of project strategies and activities.

  • Support other project activities as needed, ensuring alignment with the overall project goals.

  • Support and facilitate in day-to-day operation and management of Girls SAMVAD Centers

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of +2 level education or pursuing Bachelors’ Degree in Social Science or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience in facilitating group discussions, training, or workshops, particularly with adolescent girls.

  • Strong understanding of the socio-cultural context of Helambu Rural Municipality and the specific challenges faced by girls.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.

  • Fluency in Nepali and local languages spoken in Helambu Rural Municipality. Knowledge of English is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills.

Position Six: Enumerators (5, 10 days)

Work-Station: Helambu Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok

Job Description:

  • Conduct surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with community members, children, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure that data collection is conducted accurately, ethically, and in accordance with the project's guidelines and protocols.

  • Use digital tools and devices (e.g., tablets, smartphones) for data collection, as required.

  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of collected data.

  • Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues encountered during data collection.

  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of the data collected.

  • Establish rapport and build trust with community members and stakeholders to facilitate effective data collection.

  • Explain the purpose of the data collection activities and obtain informed consent from participants.

  • Address any questions or concerns raised by participants during data collection.

  • Submit completed surveys and other data collection forms to the M&E Officer in a timely manner.

  • Report any challenges or issues encountered during data collection to the M&E Officer.

  • Assist in the documentation of field observations and insights relevant to the project.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • +2 level education in Social Sciences or a related field is an advantage.

  • Previous experience in data collection, surveying, or field research is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse community members.

  • Basic understanding of data collection methods and tools.

  • Proficiency in using digital devices for data collection (e.g., tablets, smartphones).

  • Fluency in Nepali and local languages spoken in Helambu Rural Municipality; knowledge of English is an advantage.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.

  • Should have tablets or smartphones. 

Position Seven: Office Assistant (1, 50% Part-time)

Work Station: Child Nepal, Kathmandu

Job Description: 

  • Perform general office duties such as filing, photocopying, scanning, and managing correspondence.

  • Maintain and update project records, files, and databases.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other project documentation.

  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and letters.

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and events for the project team.

  • Take and distribute minutes of meetings as required.

  • Assist in organizing and coordinating workshops, training sessions, and community meetings.

  • Manage office supplies and ensure that necessary materials and equipment are available for project activities.

  • Support the procurement process by obtaining quotes, preparing purchase orders, and tracking deliveries.

  • Assist in maintaining financial records, including petty cash management and expense tracking.

  • Support the Finance Officer in preparing financial documents and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that the office is clean, organized, and well-maintained.

  • Oversee the maintenance of office equipment and facilities.

  • Coordinate with service providers for repairs and maintenance as needed.

  • Provide administrative support to project staff, including travel arrangements and logistical assistance.

  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of project materials and communications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum +2 level education pursuing Bachelors’ Degree in any discipline

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or office support role.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
