Field Program Officer

Himalayan Community Resource Development Centre (HCRDC) is an independent, non-governmental, non for profit making, equal opportunity organization founded with the prime aim of socio-economic development of pro-poor and women, marginalized and excluded groups and communities in the district. Since its establishment in 2003, it has given a special emphasis to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the disadvantaged and marginalized people residing in rural settings of the district and the country. HCRDC aspires in achieving its goal through practical implementation of various rural development programs and carrying out researches.

Now, HCRDC is implementing “Community-based Red Panda Conservation in Nepal” in Mahawai Rural Municipality and Shubhakalika Rural Municipality of Kalikot district in partnership with Red Panda Network (RPN) from 2018. The project has four major thematic areas viz., Research and Monitoring, Education and Outreach, Habitat Management and Sustainable Livelihood Promotion.

The organization is seeking for highly motivated, competent and dedicated applicants for Kalikot based position for a Community-based Red Panda Conservation in Nepal.

Qualification

  • Diploma in Forestry with minimum of 2-years of experience and preferably. Bachelor’s degree in Forestry/Environmental Science, or a related field with prior field-based work experience of 1 year and sound knowledge in natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood programs.

  • Good verbal and written communication in Nepali and English.

  • Good in handling MS Office packages (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and email Google Workspace.

  • Skillful in searching for information on the internet, operating social media, and making news, blogs, and activity reports when needed.

  • Strong communication, coordination, and team-building skills.

  • Having experience or interest in working in the community level and conservation sector.

  • Ability to work in a team and frequently travel and work in remote areas and adverse field conditions for multiple months.

  • Able to generate project ideas from the learnings in the field.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement activities in the field and coordinate with the relevant stakeholders for its effective implementation according to the work plan under the supervision of Program Officer.

  • Produce annual and periodic reports for the projects and submit them to the relevant agencies (such as admin, board, partners, government agencies, etc.).

  • Track and report issues and challenges faced during program implementation.

  • Coordinate and communicate with relevant government offices (Division Forest Office, District Coordination Committee, Community Forest User Groups, local councils, etc.) and local representatives, and/or the program staff as appropriate, to maintain relationships and collaboration to implement programs.

  • Timely submission of reports, minutes, photographs, field notes, and data after the completion of each activity.

  • Preparation of reports on outputs and outcomes, drafting letters, presentations, work plans, and strategies as required.

  • Collect reports, evidence, data, stories, news, and case studies related to the project implementation, its progress, and results.

  • Monitor the project activities and ensure timely completion and follow-ups.

  • Attend workshops and field visits as per requirements.

  • Great organizational and time management skills.
